Home Economics

Faculty Aims:

The Home Economics faculty offer a diverse range of Technology subjects from Years 7 to 12 that allow students to develop their understanding of course concepts through both practical and theoretic experiences. The learning opportunities in Home Economics subjects enable individuals to develop the skills required to design, produce and evaluate quality solutions that respond to identified needs and opportunities in a variety of situations.
21st Century Learning is facilitated in the five dedicated Home Economics laboratories, including a fully equipped Commercial Kitchen and two Food Technology Laboratories as well as two Textiles Laboratories, both with computer stations enabling students to move between technologies during project based learning.

Faculty Extra Curricular / Extension:

Students studying Home Economics subjects experience a range of extension opportunities which vary from year to year to meet the interests and needs of the students. These activities range from Cake Decorating in Year 8 Food Technology to pre-school visits at Janice Crosio Early Childhood Centre for Child Studies. Students studying senior subjects are also involved in workplacement in commercial kitchens and catering events for Hospitality and Textiles & Design students venture into the world of designers with their Major Textiles Project.
