Congratulations Inventor Hewitt Yong Le

HEWITT Yong Le may only be in year 8 but he already has the mind of an inventor.

The Bossley Park High School student has made it to the finals of the littleBIGidea competition with his latest invention and is now in the running to win a trip to the NASA Kennedy Space Centre in the United States.

The idea is that the user only needs to say his or her name at a certain volume and their bag will begin to flash.

"It's a sensor bag and how it works is that you talk to it and it lights up so you can find it," he said.

The 13-year-old came up with the invention after he noticed how difficult it could be for students to find their school bag when each is required to be identical as part of the school uniform.

"My tech teacher used to tell me good inventions are solutions to everyday problems," he said. "I think this backpack demonstrates that."
